Privacy Policy

Overview

Text Editor on Image ("the App", "we", "our", or "us") is an Android application that lets you detect, edit, and replace text found in photographs using on-device AI (Google ML Kit OCR). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

      Short version: All image processing happens entirely on your device.
      Your photos are never uploaded to our servers. We collect no personal data ourselves.
    

Information We Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII). Specifically:

Images & photos — processed locally on your device by ML Kit. No image data leaves your device for our servers.
Edited text / session history — stored exclusively in a local Room database on your device. Never synced to remote servers.
App preferences (e.g., dark mode setting) — stored locally in Android DataStore on your device only.

We do not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, or any other personal data.

Permissions We Request

READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — Required to let you select photos from your gallery for text detection and editing.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android ≤ 8 only) — Required to save your edited image back to your gallery.
INTERNET — Required solely for showing advertisements via Google AdMob. No user data accompanies these requests beyond what Google's SDK sends under its own policy.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — Required by the AdMob SDK to check network availability before loading ads.

Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party SDKs, each governed by its own privacy policy:

Google ML Kit Text Recognition On-device

All text recognition (OCR) is performed entirely on-device. No image data is sent to Google's servers for this feature.

Google AdMob Advertising

The App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers (Advertising ID), IP address, and usage data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. You can reset your Advertising ID or opt out of interest-based advertising in your device settings under Google > Ads.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email below so we can delete it.

Data Security

Because all user data (images, edited text, session history, preferences) remains on your device, its security is governed by your device's own security model (Android's sandboxed app storage). We have no access to this data and therefore cannot leak or misuse it.

Data Retention & Deletion

All locally stored data (session history, preferences) can be deleted at any time:

Session history — swipe any entry to delete it, or use "Clear All History" in the History screen.
All app data — go to your device Settings > Apps > Text Editor on Image > Storage > Clear Data.

Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data automatically.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
